Three project states generate the most confusion for new contributors. None of them are errors — here's what each one means and what (if anything) to do.
"You are paused in this project"
If you see "You are paused in this project — You were paused manually by an organization administrator," an admin has temporarily paused your access to that specific project. It's not an error, and there's no action for you to take until it's lifted.
Pauses may also be configured to trigger automatically after a set number of tasks or annotations, so your work can be reviewed manually before you continue. This is a normal quality checkpoint, especially early in a project.

"You're all caught up!"
"You're all caught up! All tasks in the queue have been completed" means every available task for that project has been completed — by you or other contributors. It's not an error, and it's not the same as being paused. New work may become available later, or you may need to wait to be added to a new project.

An empty project list or Work Available tab
Projects only appear once you've been added to them. An empty list means you haven't been qualified for a project yet — not that something is broken. The best ways to improve your chances:
- Keep your profile and Skills & Expertise complete and current
- Complete all onboarding steps
- Watch Discord for announcements about new projects and batches
When to contact support
If you've been paused for an extended period with no communication, or believe you're seeing one of these states in error, email contractorsupport@humansignal.com or submit a ticket with the project name and a screenshot.
