After creating your account and completing your profile, three onboarding steps remain. All of them live under Identity & Payments at app.humansignal.com, and they unlock in sequence.
Step 1: Verify your identity
Confirm you're a real person by matching a government-issued photo ID to a live selfie. This takes about 2–5 minutes; a mobile phone is recommended for the clearest images. Once verified, the tax and payout steps unlock.

Step 2: Complete your tax information
Navigate to the Tax & Payment Method section and complete your tax form. This is a two-step flow — tax info first, with the payout method locked until it's done.
Why this matters beyond payments: if you see "Rate Pending" instead of a pay rate on projects, incomplete tax information is the likely cause. Completing your tax form unlocks pay rate visibility.
Step 3: Add your payment method
Add your payout details — bank transfer or PayPal, depending on your country. Any account with a routing number qualifies as a bank account, including services like Cash App and Payoneer. See Setting up payments & taxes for details.
After all three steps
Allow some time for processing. Someone will be in touch with next steps. In the meantime, take the platform tour and make sure your Skills & Expertise are up to date — that's what determines which projects you're matched to.
